BPM (Business Process Management) is a management approach to the processes. BPM is an evolved way of all the methods of Quality methods used in the past. It is centered around Customer experience Management (CEM) and an Outside-In approach; where customer experience is considered to be the process and customer is assumed to be in the center of all organizational processes (Not outside or at the end of a process flow).

BPM revolves around the three process diagnostics – MOT, BP and BR. MOT stands for Moment Of Truth, BP stands for Break Point, BR stands for Business Rule. Using these diagnostics, BPM diagnoses an existing process and identifies all points of failure. These points of failure are then analyzed to see how they can be eliminated or reduced. BPM is expected to deliver drastic improvements in process performance.

The BPM tools, BPMS (Business Process Management Suite) as they are known, help provide right environment of process management to organizations. Using these tools, organizations can build visual processes based on process diagrams or flow charts without involving any hard coding. The tools have smart objects because of which the power users or process managers themselves can change the processes on the fly, without the help of IT staff. BPM also enables organizations build robust environment of processes, where processes become more visible, easily monitor-able and connects people in the process, thereby increasing collaboration and transparency in organizations.
